Saudi-backed forces reportedly cutoff key highway between Sanaa and Hodeidah

BEIRUT, LEBANON (1:00 P.M.) - The Saudi-backed forces announced on Thursday that their troops managed to cutoff the key highway between the cities of Hodeidah and Sanaa.

According to the Yemeni Republican Guard's official media wing, their troops and the Southern Resistance Army captured several points around Hodeidah city, today, forcing the Houthi forces to fall back towards the provincial capital.

While no video footage was released to corroborate these claims, if it does indeed prove true, then the Saudi-backed forces will have scored an important advance that could elevate their assault in Hodeidah.

Hodeidah is the last major port that is under the control of the Houthi forces in western Yemen; if lost, the entire northern part of the country will be under a land, air, and sea siege.
