Tradisi Lemang di Aceh

Selama bulan Ramadan, di berbagai daerah muncul makanan-makanan khas yang jarang ditemui oleh masyarakat saat hari-hari biasa. Seperti lemang khas Sumatera ini. Lemang sendiri adalah makanan yang dimasak dalam tabung bambu beragam ukuran disajikan dengan selai manis atau buah durian. Banyak orang berkata bahwa bulan Ramadan membawa berkah bagi orang yang menjalaninya termasuk para pedagang lemang. Salah satunya Hafsah yang telah berdagang lemang di Aceh selama 15 tahun. Hampir setiap hari ada 100 bambu lebih atau habis 50 kilogram beras ketan yang dihabiskan untuk membuat lemang. Adapun omzet rata-rata yang diperoleh hasil penjualan lemang selama Ramadan sebesar Rp5 juta per harinya. Sedangkan modal yang harus dikeluarkan untuk membuat lemang adalah Rp1,5 juta per hari. "Itu kalau semua terjual. Tetapi kalau bulan Ramadan, semua terjual seperti pengalaman tahun-tahun lalu," imbuhnya. Di kota Banda Aceh, di beberapa pasar kaget seperti di Lamdingin, pasar Aceh dan sejumlah tempat jualan kudapan berbuka lainnya. Di sini Anda dengan mudah menemukan belasan penjualan makanan berbuka puasa, terutama lemang. Hafsah mengaku membuat 3 jenis lemang yaitu lemang ubi, ketan hitam dan ketan putih kemudian dicampur dengan santan.
