Davis-Monthan Boneyard Time Lapse

in #aircraft7 years ago

Hello all. I was surfing around the net today and came across a very cool video I wanted to share.

The video is a time lapse of Davis-Monthan's Boneyard.

Davis-Monthan is an air base in Arizona. And it's one of the few bases that also has a boneyard. In the boneyard they store excess aircraft in various states. Some of the aircraft are just used for parts. Some of the other aircraft are there for long storage.

Commonly referred to as the “Boneyard,” the 309th Aerospace Maintenance  and Regeneration Group at Davis-Monthan Air Force Base, Ariz., contains  about 5,000 retired military aircraft throughout 2,600 acres. Crews at  the Boneyard preserve aircraft for possible future use, pull aircraft  parts to supply to the field, and perform depot-level maintenance and  aircraft regeneration in support of Air Force operations.
