Aid Venezuela | A Report about Venezuela Situation | A country rich in poverty

in #aidvenezuela5 years ago (edited)

With only $9 dollars, one person a month must survive. The Venezuelan government has made several increases in the country's minimum wage, but its value in dollars continues to be below the index throughout the South American region, being even lower than the value of wages in countries such as Cuba or Haiti. Countries to which the oil agreement that the government maintains with them through "PetroCaribe" stands out.

Last April 29th the government made the most recent adjustment going from earning a salary of 18,000 Bolivars to 40,000 Bs, this adding the value of the Cestatickets that add an extra 25,000 Bs for a total of 65,000 Bs.

In spite of this the salary continues being insufficient before a hyperinflation that hits and grows daily in conjunction with the devaluation of the national currency and the scarcity of paper currency. In just the month of April prices increased by more than 40% according to figures released by the National Assembly where the dollar also increased its value in the parallel market.

The current salary represents approximately $9 if calculated at the unofficial rate and $10.4 in the price established by the Venezuelan state which is administered by the Central Bank of Venezuela.

This figure is still below the extreme poverty line which is set by the World Bank, being an income less than $1.9 per day of work so that a person who earns minimum wage barely receives a total of $ 0.3 per day.

Poverty and its traps:

The salary is not enough and it is something to know, with such a low income not even a family of five that works day and night could acquire the food that composes the Basic Food Basket which is located above the 2,552,836 Bs or an estimated $411 according to figures of the current month ( https://www.finanzasdigital.com/2019/06/caf-mayo-2019/ ).

"We are condemned to a trap where even if they increase the salary we will continue to receive rather little.

As we are condemned only in food matters, we are also condemning other goods and services. The Venezuelan people have stopped acquiring certain products in order to focus on what is important, survival, the ingestion of food. Obtaining junk food, buying brands of cleaning supplies, organizing an outing or pretending to make a birthday are all simple dreams.

Products continue to grow and there is nothing that can stop this inflationary madness. Wage increases are not a close solution to solving the country's economic problem, on the contrary, these increases do not represent more than an adjustment to the cost structure of companies so products continue to increase to protect profit margins.

The reality is that we are trapped

The government is still not looking for a close solution to the problem and this is expressed in the most recent change even in the currency.

After having eliminated five zeros to combat "hyperinflation" and "protect" the economy, the government recently added 3 new notes to the monetary cone being the same of 10.000, 20.000, 50.000 BS which more than approaching a solution only show how the same inflationary margin is winning them, a fact that they have not known how to control in more than 20 years of government and that has become a danger for society.

As purchasing power continues to decline, the numbers of deaths in malnutrition and hospitals continues to increase as well as the number of people begging for food on the streets.

The country needs urgent help and we hope that international organizations will begin to watch over it and restore a true democracy to our nation.

Although, as a project we are not biased to a political thought, it is necessary to know how a government has spent 20 years wasting the nation's money, filling its own accounts and forgetting for a long time that its commitment is with and for the people, an issue that they have forgotten and that now it is the people who are paying for their failures and errors not recognized by them.
