My mom retired!
Glory be to God.
This day I followed her to the little get together organized by her fellow and former colleagues.
It was organized by her fellow and now former colleagues to honour her years of civil service to the state.
Before noon, and before setting out for the program, we cleaned the house as in normal routine. Cooked and ate before picking out clothes for the day's outing.
We definitely had to spend time choosing from multiple choicesas the lady (celebrant/retiree 😌) wants to look her best.
35 years in service is definitely not beans!
Retired, but not tired…
Their slogan went thus. Classic.
It was not organized for her alone, about fifteen (15) of them retired before the end of this year.
The fun part, most of them were female; and the get together was filled mostly with female guests in form of their friends and relatives
They were asked to come along with two guests which is why my mom invited I and my elder sister.
The program consisted of opening prayer, praise and worship,recognition of the high table guests, recognition of the invited guests, citation/biography, presentation of gifts, pictures, item 7😅, closing prayer and ending of the program.
The program started around 12pm and it was done within four to five hours. During the program I was privileged to present the citation of my mom; just like others, their guests were asked to recite their citation or biography (their daughter, son, friend, colleagues, relatives or husband).
The retirees were presented gifts (throw pillows with their pictures imprinted on it. 🫣I was able to sneak a peek), item 7 and another stuff which was well wrapped and I couldn't see what was inside
My sister came around later with my niece and she was able to assist with taking our pictures.
Along with some others who shared sourvenirs, my mom was able to share drinks and snacks with a few people.
Going back home was bliss as we gisted about the event.
