BALS - Help, My Mom is a Drug Addict!

So drugs are a majorly rampant problem here in the States, so much so, that hospitals have really cut down on issuing opioids and the like. There are also thousands of tons of drugs making their way over the border every day, along with the violence that comes with them, and to call this a crisis, would be not even getting close to how serious the problem is.
(Granted this would all go away if we would legalize marijuana, and maybe other less dangerous recreational drugs, and rerouting all the "war on drugs" money to rehabilitation and clean needle programs, but I digress, that will likely not be happening anytime soon.)
All this being said, it isn't uncommon to have a family member fall prey to drug use. It may start as simply as being in a car wreck and taking painkillers for the pain, and feeling as though you need to rely on them all the time after you run out of them. Or it could be from trying something just one time, giving your body enough of a taste to want to come back for more.
I have had a close friend who has struggled with drug addiction his whole life. It is heart wrenching to watch.

Addiction... woooooo... That is a tough one. I think your advice is sound. Theres no easy answer here and everyone deals with addiction differently.
It's true, it is a hard subject to broach for sure!
