Thank you. It's very common for trees to grow out of stumps around here. It is very dark in the forest and having that little bit of extra height helps get more light for the tree. Plus having more fertilizer from the stump helps. Sometimes the soil can get real wet too and root rot can be an issue. I like the way the roots crawl down the outside of the stump.
