ACHIEVEMENT 2 @IRENE-HIC TASK: BASIC SECURITY ON STEEMIT MENTORED BY @CRYPTOKANNON
Hello everybody, today i will be talking about basic security on steemit. When i first joined steemit, i was given several keys and i got really confused, what's this? Why do i need all these keys to access my account. But then i discovered that these different keys have specific functions. This drew my attention to want to know more. At the end of my reading, i was happy because this is quite different from other platforms i know and guaranteed a tight security if i follow instructions carefully.
Now let me talk about these keys.
PRIVATE POSTING KEY: This key is very important. It can be used to log into your personal account, making and commenting on a post, to mute an account, for voting, to resteem a post, and also used for following.
PRIVATE MASTER KEY: This key is very important and should be kep carefully because it could be used to deny you access to your account if a third party gains access to it. This key is used in generating other keys and password. This key should always be kept offline.
PRIVATE ACTIVE KEY: This key can be used to perform actions such as transferring tokens, for wallet transactions, for powering steem up and down, placing market orders, updating profile details and converting stream dollars.
PRIVATE OWNERS KEY: This key is very important. It is used to reset or recover all keys in the case of a compromised account.
MEMO KEY: Used for encryption and decryption when transferring funds.
In my opinion, i will say that the master key is the most important key because it can be used to generate other keys. Its is important to keep it somewhere safe,maybe an email but preferably an offline storage.
Below, I'm going to be talking about how to transfer you steem token to another steem user account.
To perform wallet transactions, u need to first log into your wallet by using your private posting key. Initially it may look blank as the picture above. Just click on the three horizontal lines at the top right highlighted with blue, then sign in with ur posting key.
A dialog box as the image above will appear.
HOW DO YOU TRANSFER STEEM TO A STEEM WALLET
First step: Click on the arrow pointing downwards under STEEM, just beside where u find the 0.002 STEEM. Here, mine is showing that i have 0.002 steem. A small box will appear bellow, go ahead and click transfer. Use the image below to understand better.
SECOND STEP: After clicking on transfer another box will appear which looks like the image below. In this box fill in the details as desired and press next. This step will give u a successful transfer.
HOW TO POWER UP STEEM
Another challenge we may have is how to power up steem. Ok let me show you how.
STEP ONE: Still under STEEM, click on the arrow facing downwards just beside the 0.002 STEEM. A small box will appear underneath.
STEP TWO: click on power up and a dialogue interface will show up
STEP THREE: Fill in the amount u wish to power up then click on the power up bottom below.
