Meine ersten Tage mit einem Mini PC [GER/ENG]
Wunderschönen Karfreitag, meine lieben Squadis.
Heute habe ich ein bisschen Zeit, um über meine ersten zwei Tage mit meinem Mini-PC zu sprechen.
Ja, ich habe mir den PC schon diesen Monat gekauft, da GMKtec momentan auf ihrer Webseite super günstige Angebote hat und der Dollar gerade schwach ist.
Insgesamt werde ich 590 € für die kleine Kiste ausgegeben haben; momentan sind es 490 Euro, da das Occulink-Dock erst Anfang Mai bestellt wird.
Für ungefähr genauso viel Geld (569 €) hätte ich einen Desktop-PC bekommen mit Ryzen 5 8500G, mit nur 16 GB RAM anstatt 40 GB (8 GB gehen an die interne GPU).

Today I have a bit of time to talk about my first two days with my Mini PC.
Yes, I bought the PC earlier this month because GMKtec currently has great deals on their website and the dollar is weak right now.
In total, I will have spent 590 € on the little box; currently, it’s 490 euros since the Occulink dock will only be ordered at the beginning of May.
For roughly the same amount of money (569 €), I could have gotten a desktop PC with a Ryzen 5 8500G, but with only 16 GB of RAM instead of 40 GB (8 GB goes to the integrated GPU)
Hier einmal ein direkter Größenvergleich, um zu zeigen, wie mini dieser PC wirklich ist,trotzdem hat alleine die CPU 77 % mehr Power als mein alter Ryzen 5 2600.
Die ganze Box zieht auch maximal 70 Watt, was 44 % weniger ist als allein mein alter 2600er.
Aber die kleine Box ist auch eine kleine Diva, denn nicht jedes USB-Gerät läuft unter Windows auf jedem USB-Port. Mein Mikrofon zum Beispiel wird nur an einem bestimmten Port erkannt.
Und ja, ihr habt richtig gelesen: Ich benutze momentan wieder Windows 11. Ich habe lange überlegt, ob ich nicht einfach Manjaro bei der ersten Benutzung drüber installieren soll.
Habe mich aber dagegen entschieden und stattdessen eine zusätzliche M.2 bei Amazon bestellt, welche Mittwoch geliefert wird und dann gegen die M.2 mit Windows getauscht wird.
Benötige ich irgendwann mal Windows, kann ich die M.2 wieder tauschen.

The whole box also draws a maximum of 70 watts, which is 44% less than my old 2600 alone.
But the little box is also a bit of a diva, as not every USB device works under Windows on every USB port. For example, my microphone is only recognized on a specific port.
And yes, you read that right: I’m currently using Windows 11 again. I thought long about whether I should just install Manjaro over it on the first use.
But I decided against it and instead ordered an additional M.2 from Amazon, which will be delivered on Wednesday and then swapped out for the M.2 with Windows.
If I ever need Windows again, I can swap the M.2 back.
Wie einige von euch wissen, habe ich die letzten zwei Tage auch mit der kleinen Box gestreamt, und ich bin echt positiv überrascht.
Wie ihr sehen könnt, benutzt OBS nicht einmal 1 % der CPU, und auch ansonsten langweilen sich CPU und GPU.
Nur „WoW“ lief etwas durchwachsen mit FPS zwischen 30 und 60, was aber bestimmt daran liegt, wenn ich drüber nachdenke, dass ich auch über die GPU streame.
Wenn ich also über die CPU streame, die sowieso nicht gefordert wird, sollte es ein viel besseres Ergebnis geben; dies probieren wir Dienstag aus.
Von der Leistung der Box bin ich bis jetzt echt überzeugt. Für meine Verhältnisse viel Power und sehr leise; nur die Grafikleistung ist momentan nicht so gut, aber das wusste ich vorher.
Die nächsten drei Wochen wird es also eher ältere und kleinere Games auf meinem Twitch-Kanal zu sehen geben, bis ich dank Occulink meine 3060 wieder nutzen kann.
Wenn ihr euch auch einen Mini-PC anschaffen wollt, achtet bitte auf einen Occulink-Port, damit ihr die Möglichkeit habt, eine echte GPU nachzurüsten.
Zwar würde dies auch über USB 4 gehen, was aber teurer wäre und bis zu 50 % weniger FPS als mit Occulink bringen würde.

As some of you know, I have also been streaming with the little box for the last two days, and I am really positively surprised.
As you can see, OBS uses not even 1% of the CPU, and both the CPU and GPU are otherwise idle.
Only "WoW" ran a bit unevenly, with FPS between 30 and 60, which is probably due to the fact that I am streaming through the GPU.
So, if I stream through the CPU, which is not being utilized anyway, I should get a much better result; we will try this out on Tuesday.
So far, I am really convinced of the box's performance. For my standards, it has a lot of power and is very quiet; only the graphics performance isn't that great at the moment, but I knew that beforehand.
For the next three weeks, there will be mainly older and smaller games to watch on my Twitch channel until I can use my 3060 again thanks to Occulink.
If you also want to get a Mini PC, please pay attention to an Occulink port so that you have the option to upgrade to a real GPU.
While this could also be done via USB 4, it would be more expensive and would yield up to 50% fewer FPS than with Occulink.

Das mit der M.2 ist nicht verkehrt, man weiß ja nie... Wenn du die Win11 platt gemacht hättest, wäre wohl keine Möglichkeit mehr oder nur schwierig, das wieder zu bekommen. Vermute ich mal, oder?
Jedenfalls viel Spaß noch mit dem Teil!
