Today's post is about the only Starbucks with ta̠da̠mi in Kyoto, Japan. Ta̠da̠mi is straw matting in Japanese houses.

I could visit Kyoto few times. But whenever I went three, Kyoto looks different. That's why I love this place. Especially, it's very amused to meet a new cafe :)

This is Kamo river which is separating two different area. One side is modernistic place and the other is traditional one containing a World Heritage site 'Kiyomizu-dera'

Especially if you want to see the 'Kiyomizu-dera', you might pass the site 'Ninen zaka'. Now, the world’s first tatami-style Starbucks in Kyoto was opened in Ninen zaka path.

It is actually not hard to find Starbucks in Japan. But the starbusck that I wanna introduce is quite special. Because if you go there, you can see 'Tatami' which is a japan's traditional way of building a house.

I like coffee, woods and..This new brunch is opened 30, June this year. So it's 100 years old but new place :)
I went there before it's crowded in future

I will let you guys know the direction on the google maps but have a look with me :)

Japan is very humid in summer so I recommend you to keep something to drink always.

Go out from Keihan Line, Gion shoji's station exit 6 or 7. Then go straight :)

You can see people wearing Kimono on the street in Kyoto :)
And If you find the red building, you are on the half way to the destination.

If you find it, go straight :)
U can choose the car road side but I used a way inside.

Walk walk walk..

Many stores selling Ice cream.
I got sweat much but ignore them to reach the goal.

On the way, you can see the big tower. It is Yasaka's tower called Hokansa.

Then When u have the tower on your left side and then pass the tower, you can see this road.

Go little bit more, you can see the road sign.

If you take the left one, u will see the starbucks.
on the other side, u will see the 'Kiyomizu-dera'

And..
This is the Ninen-zaka path

Walk little bit more then you can see the destination!

The blue cloth is called Noren which is the crest of the family in Japan.
Feel like very Kyoto lol :)

Let's have a look inside!
Before opening the main door, there's a small japanese garden.

Have to order first!
The atmosphere was so warm :)

When I ordered, a staff said that you can't take the Tatami seat.

After you ordered, you will pass a narrow corridor

There's no seat so.. sit anywhere and wait :(

But have a look an 100 years old hose :)

Highlight!

Tatami places were divided into three places
6 tables for 2 and 2 tables for 2~4 man

Immmm be patient~

Take off shoes!

I thought I found a good one.
The cushion was so comfy.
I searched then an article said it's made by one of Kyoto area's Kimono cloth

The wooden table was just size..
I hope to make it if I could..!

There are so many cafes in Kyoto.
I'm sure that there's a lot of good cafes too.
But If you wanna experience something special that you can do only in Japan,
I highly recommend it :)

TIPS

• To be honest, the atmosphere was good but it was a little bit warm inside.. and be careful of smelly feet of yourself ! haha

• I waited to find a seat.. but I felt awkward when other people waited to find a seat..So order a big sized coffee(business strategy, I guess)

• The most important thing is YOU SHOULD BE HURRY!

  When I visited there, it was 11:30am Thursday but I should wait and when I left the store 12:30 pm, a staff said to customers that ONLY TAKE AWAY is available
  So If you wanna sit at the Tadami one,
  HURRY!
