Enhancing Hede (login, post view, Entries) page

Introduction

Hede is a platform built on the Steem blockchain where users can share information on a topic. It is like an open source wikipedia. Topics can be added on the platform without prior approval. What is needed is just for the user to login with their steemit details. Users van share their knowledge of the simplest topic such as their local slang to the complex scientific terms.

Components

My suggestion is based on the following interfaces of the website

• Login page
• Post view page
• Entries page
• Entries page (Mobile view)

Proposal Description

The login page currently contains ability for users to login with steemconnect before you can contribute to the platform. I propose redesigning the login so that on clicking it, it will bring two options which are Contributor login and Reviewer login. Users will then choose the suitable one. Each of this logins will have their specific functions.

• Contributor login- This will include functions present in the default steemconnect login where you can create a topic and publish on steemit
• Reviewer login- This is the new login I am proposing. It will have new functions to review a post. It will include the rating system. The rating system will be on a scale of 1-5

Post view Page- The post view page should be enhanced to include related topic links by the side of the post. This related topics links should be a list of all the in-text links present in the post the user is reading

Entries page- Clicking a user profile, you are shown all the user entries. The entries however, are already opened/maximized in a way that you can read each topics without opening. I suggest it should be changed to a list mode showing the Title, image, few words, upvote value.

Entries page (mobile)- On mobile, while navigating through a user profile, the user information (location, voting power, date joined) is overlapping the user entries while scrolling down. This should be rectified.

Benefits

• On other wiki sites, addition of a wrong information on topics can easily be edited by other users and the right information is inputted. However, due to the decentralised nature of the Hede platform, it is not possible to do that, no-one holds another user key, thus editing the user entry is not possible.

To solve this, Hede create a chance for mutiple entries under a topic. While this is a good move, it doesn't solve the issue of false information. I believe addition of a reviewer login will solve this issue.

The reviewer will have functions different from the normal contributor. The reviewer will be able to rate entries on a scale of 1 to 5. Therefore, once a user or an outsider is going through the Hede site, there would be an option to filter entries based on highest rating. This will improve the site credibility as original information will be shown first. No platform will want to be associated with false information that may have negative effect on the site.

• Having related topics links in a list mode will allow ease of accessibility in the site. On complete reading of an entry, the user can easily see a comprehensive list of other topics by the side of the post. This will encourage better site usage, easy site navigation and improvement in the bounce rate of the platform.

• The entries page is currently not good looking. For a user with many entries, it will be a cumbersome task scrolling down to find or read a post. The entries are already in Full preview mode which shouldn't be so. Implementing my proposal of a List mode showng the title, image, few words, tag and upvote value will be good. It will reduce the time spent in finding older posts. It will also enable better user experience. It will enable users to easily upvote entries without necessarily opening it.

• The entries page on mobile is not properly optimised. The user profile is seen overlapping the post contents while scrolling down. This means some words are covered and cannot be seen. Making the profile info to disappear while scrolling down the entries will provide a good reading interface for the platform.

Conclusion

Implementing this suggestions will go a long way in making the site keep up to standard.
