Working On Revulsion Icons
Hello everyone!
So, I spent last night working on some more item icons for Revulsion, but when we added them to the game, we realized they were darker and more blurry. I had no idea why. I used all the same settings I had used for the other ones. I thought about it, and realized that Photoshop had had an update recently, and figured it might have to do with that.
I messed around until I finally figured out what was causing it. It turns out that I have to rasterize the layers now, before shrinking the image size. Lucky for me, this didn't add much to the process.
Here is the process I use to make the icons. The images are first rendered out from the MagicaVoxel items.
Next, I import the image of the item on top of the pre-made background.
I rotate it at an angle, and resize it as needed. Then, I add the poster edges effect.
After adding poster edges from the filter gallery, I add an outer glow to make the image pop.
Now, here is the step that I had to add, thanks to the Photoshop update... rasterizing the effect layers.
Lastly, after it has been rasterized, I resize the image to 128x128, which is the icon size used in Revulsion.
