Why I'm Powering Down

in #life8 years ago

Hello Everyone.

I've powered down a very small amount in the past, but I've never really needed to power down that much.

I feel like voting power is somewhat important on Steemit, and that's why I also feel the need to explain the reason why I'm powering down, so that people don't assume I'm bailing out. ^^;

I'm pretty much here to stay.

I'm not fully powering down. I plan to cancel it when I know that I have the amount of Steem that I need right now.

So, what do I need it for?

You might have noticed that most of my posts are about gaming, and you might have also noticed that most of the recent posts have been about VRChat or VR games. I'm in love with VR. VRChat is my favorite place to spend my evenings now. I spend hours and hours on there, and have made quite a few awesome friends.

I love to share my VRChat experiences, because virtual reality is so cool, and the experiences are really unique. So many exciting things happen when I'm on there.

So, what does this have to do with the power down?

While trying to enjoy VR, I've noticed that my computer doesn't really perform well. I have to stay in private rooms, with not very many people, or I'll lag so much that I can't move. This also makes you want to throw up when you have a headset on. I've also noticed problems with my computer in general. It seems like they are problems that a simple reformat will not fix.

When I really think about it, it has been a long time since I have updated my PC. I also plan on getting Windows 10 (I'm currently on win 7). My CPU is a million years old, and it just doesn't perform well enough for VR games.

I want to stream, make videos, and continue blogging about virtual reality, and the only way to do that is to upgrade my PC. I also want to upgrade before one of the parts actually fails. It's also just sad not being able to enter most rooms that my friends are hanging out in. I've missed out a lot of fun nights with them. ;-;

So, that's basically why I'm powering down a bit.

Do you think people should be open about their power downs, or do you think it's simply their business and doesn't matter? I'm curious. I plan to always be open about any changes to my Steemit account. ^^

I think it’s nice to be open, I don’t think it is mandatory either. Fundamentally, we all have different needs and wants in life at any given time. So it is always a personal prerogative to do whatever you want with your power. Not a big fan of any stigma attached to powering down, all the talk of rewarding content creators but seemingly only if they don’t actually take the reward. Besides, yours is going towards something that helps you create anyway! The ideal solution.

Yeah, this power down is basically investing in a future of more content for me! :D

That's what it is all about, right? You've earned the STEEM, so you can do with it whatever you like in my opinion. Spending it on a new computer can only be a good investment since these CPU's and graphic cards have evolved A TON in the last couple of years and the change in performance will be massive in comparison with the pricetag. Enjoy your future VR experiences! :)

In my 2 cent opinion you planning is great, buying PC or upgrade PC is the best option to use steem income. At one hand it will give you satisfaction, happiness and achievement on the other hand it will give you opportunity to increase your income. All the best @zombiedoll

Its the need...to improve some part of our need and take it when it is still able to support what we need and put some limit on it before it ran out.

Thanks for sharing your reasons, i can totally understand that and why you shouldnt use the money you have created from your content to upgrade your system for even more content.

But i personal think that you havent to tell us what you do with your account, because its yours. Beside that i really appreciate your honesty and transperence.

I just want people to know that I still wish to support them with my voting power, as little as it may be ^_^

I appreciate this, after your blog i looked at your wallet. You could buy some great upgrades with this money. Hope you get a cheap graficcard , the high end cards are really expensive at the moment because of the cryptomining.

this great post I appreciate your life thanks for sharing this blog . best of luck..

Nice Steemit post......Thanks for sharing........
