Daily Blog #16 - Medieval Fest

Yesterday was in my town a medieval festival being the third edition. With this festival we could see how life was 500 years ago.The location was chosen in the center of the city in a place called the 'Royal Court'.Here is an old church and an old tower where soldiers watched the city.Actors from all over the country were brought to show people the customs and the clothes of that time.

Guns, swords and armor were exposed. These items were very important for soldiers fighting in various battles.These weapons, especially swords, are very heavy. The big ones have up to 10 kg and the small ones up to 2.5 kg.The armor is also very heavy and it was a real burden for soldiers.

The ceremony began with a tour of the King with soldiers downtown. They welcomed the people and beat the drums all the way.When they came back, the king sat on the throne and two soldiers fired several gunfire.

Also traditional medieval dishes were cooked and served to people.Traditional chefs have been brought in. I think these foods were much healthier than what we eat.At that time the meat came from wild animals that ate only healthy food.

The children were very happy because they could interact with the actors, they were able to take pictures with different objects from that period.I think these events are more useful for children, learning much easier than at school.
