Greetings!

Sometimes happens that good looking living creatures are rotten inside. This old chap lived a good life, and now it is a beginning for a new life.

In Ukraine, it is forbidden to pick up dead trees and any other plants within the Wilderness Protection Zone in National parks and reserves. Because they are very important and integral part of forest ecosystem. Dead wood is a place of living and a reproduction of many living inhabitants.

There are also forest trees, for which dead wood is the main substrate for restoration. Very important role of dead wood as a source of organic material of soil.

I brought these pictures from my spring trip around Ukraine a year ago. It was in April, and small white flowers are Anemones. This small forest is very close to humans, but they take a good care of it.
