The World where Content Rules

"Content is King", this statement was first used as the title of an article by Microsoft's CEO, Bill Gates in 1996. The entirety of the article was based on the importance and relevance of quality information on the internet and what it holds for the nearest future; some would call this a prophecy as many years after this article went up, the leading platforms on the internet are those where quality information are mostly found.

First let’s talk about what content means in this context, Content is the matter of any documentation or publication on the internet; this can be videos, animations, images, sounds, texts etc. Content is the basically the information (regardless of the format) on webpages.

Today, the biggest dot-com platforms are Amazon, Alphabet (Google) and Facebook. Each these mentioned platforms offer content on a scale that’s almost unimaginable however they prioritize the best and most relevant information for users to interact with, this has helped increase the value of these platforms. These days, having content isn’t enough but the way and manner it is conveyed is also as paramount as the information to be absorbed or interacted with. This is to say, to generate value from a particular content; it has to be portrayed in the best way possible.

For example, according to a BuzzSumo analysis of content types on Facebook, video posts get the most engagements by far (twice the engagement of other formats). This basically means the best content format to use on Facebook is video (also taking into consideration “quality”) because this would give you the highest interactions which could translate to leads, sales or increased value generally. Also, Non-standard ad banners (Rich Media: interactive animations, floating ads, etc.) have higher tendencies of getting clicked on (avg. CTR 0.4%-1.0%) than standard ad banners such as images, gif etc. (avg. CTR 0.1%-0.2%).

Most companies, both the big guns and startups always try to communicate their information online in the best way possible; nowadays, humor is one of the smartest ways to go about advertising products and services online. Humorous and human angle content are most likely to get shared online.

With over 3 billion people on the internet, the importance of quality content cannot be overemphasized on every level, Steemit is another good example that shows content truly is king; this platform is built on publishing and appreciating quality content which has definitely helped change lives all over the world. The more beautiful content are posted, the more the community grows and mind you the better the community gets, the faster the value of STEEM grows; this shows how powerful the content we post on this community is.

Finally, quality content breeds more content. Quality content helps inspire users who view and interact with it to generate more content either relating to it or not. As we continue to surf the wonders of the Internet, let’s not forget the most important core of it which is the content and try to generate ours in the best possible way. I for one believe, we’ve been blessed to be among the first generation to witness the age of information.

Yeah, quality content is king, but It seems like the majority of people out there do not appreciate quality.

Most don't even look for quality

I concur and I must confess it is starting to affect this younger generation and our nation especially. I can only imagine how far we'd be as a nation if higher importance is attached to data and information provided online. We will get there. Data is the new wave!!
