HOOD OF LOVE - Friday Poetry
We walked down from Temple Bar
all the way to Rathmines
Hands knotted, hearts open
Irish girls wearing miniskirts and stilettos
lumbering over the cobbled street in front of us
music fragments drifting out of pubs
Dublin yarning a cocoon around the two of us
I declare Dublin is my hood of love
We cross the canal and on the surface of the water
I see some mermaids swimming
wearing their most fancy fins
They passed the estuary for a budding night
to entrap some decent drunken guys
They blow us kisses, giggling and wise
Dublin knows what's going on between us
I declare Dublin is my hood of love
We slipped in between the bedsheets
with you doing what my hungry heart feeds
The moon outside sends us some light
I fall into you and into Dublin's night
This is Dublin telling the story of us
I declare Dublin is my hood of love.
Thanks for reading, I hope you enjoyed!
