Steem4nigeria Accelerator Contest Week 37: Away From Home

A home is a place or apartment where one lives, it is also where some one comes from and especially a place where one stays with his or her family and is comfortable with. A place that isn't comfortable is not worth being called a home because the major characteristic of a home is that it must be comfortable and healthy to live in.

My definition of home may differ from the normal because I'll define home as a family not a building. The home is the people in the building and not the building itself. A home is a family living together in love, unity and harmony and it is also a place where one lives with members of his or her family. A home is a place like no other where one lives and is surrounded by people with like minds and who has his or her best interest at heart. A home is a place someone can run to anytime and anyday and is welcomed with open arms . A home is definitely our safest heaven here on earth.

Yes, I have been away from home a couple of times. Infact from my 10th year till today because of school. I attended a boarding school so I was always away from home and even in my university I stay alone in the student lodge.
The boarding house in the secondary school was made my second home those years because I spent more time there than at home because our holiday was always 3 weeks or one month. The boarding house consisted of different children from different background and status quo and we all adapted in one way or the other. Now in my lodge I stay alone because I don't want a roommate since I love my privacy and personal space.

My experience away from home has been one of a mixed feelings. Feelings of loneliness, boredom, love and hatred but I really learnt a lot away from home. I learnt adaptability, patience, tolerance and cooperation.
My days as a junior student I never really enjoyed school because I was always subjected to bulky since I was very small as compared to others, I was bullied by seniors and even my mate but I never told my parents because I really loved my school.
Subsequent times as I became a senior school was nothing short of interesting because I enjoyed everyday , it became adventurous and enjoyable, I just got used to the environment because I spent greater part of my time there because of my studies.
Life as a senior and junior was quite very different because as a junior I was always bullied and was most times lonely but as a senior I commanded influence and everything took a different turn.
Life in boarding school taught me a lot of life lessons on how to cope through tough times and good times, how to survive in diverse situations as there were times we had hunger strikes but we still kept striving for greatness.
It made me so strong and positive about every step I took in life because I couldn't believe I would survive without family but I became stronger and the best version of myself.

Yes, I'll definitely love it because there's always a lot to learn and most of this things can't be taught at home because experience is the best teacher and we learn better through our experience.
Starting boarding school I regretted but as I advanced in class I realized my parents made the best decision to send me to a boarding school. Boarding school is like a training ground where you are trained to be responsible for your actions both good or bad and responsible for your well-being. Even though caretakers are there which overseas the well being but you are taught to be responsible and a better citizen.
In boarding school I made friends and life time bonds was formed, I met the best set of friends there and our friendship stood the test of times.
I also learned independence there. I learned how to survive alone and still do the right thing without being told to and cautioned to.
