I2P - The invisible internet projectsteemCreated with Sketch.

I like learning and testing some things on a user level, also i am linux user so i will present I2P to Steemit as some steemians might want to test it out or contribute to the network, there is alot to grow, but i think it's already alot done !

Current Version: 0.9.29

I like to call it a "software router", and i guess that's kind of what it is. I2P is a software that routes infomation (the most used protocols of the internet: tcp, http, udp, pop/impap and of course p2p) in a decentralized, secure way.

I2P is an anonymous overlay network - a network within a  network. It is intended to protect communication from dragnet  surveillance and monitoring by third parties such as ISPs.
I2P is used by many people who care about their privacy:  activists, oppressed people, journalists and whistleblowers, as well as  the average person.
No network can be "perfectly anonymous". The continued goal of  I2P is to make attacks more and more difficult to mount. Its anonymity  will get stronger as the size of the network increases and with ongoing  academic review.

It requires about 128mb and uses Java (JRE,JDK) to run but it is said that it runs with less, you can configure it to what you want to attribute to the application right after installation or after on:

Increase the setting wrapper.java.maxmemory in the file wrapper.config.

This file in linux is in /etc/i2p

There is no browser bundle, so you can interact with i2p on command-line or configured browser wich is fairly easy to do, you do not have to configure on a different browser but you might want to.

After installing and starting I2P you can do several things.

- Acess decentralized websites

You can now acess .i2p and .onion sites

Is my router an "exit node" to the regular Internet? I don't want it to be. (link)
No. Unlike Tor, "exit nodes" or "outproxies" are not an inherent part of the network. Only volunteers who set up and run separate applications will relay traffic to the regular Internet. There are very, very few of these.

- There are a few cryptos that are also supporting I2P integration in their wallets.

- Decentralized currency exchanger

- Running on Android

There is also buit-in torrent client, trackers and decentralized web-mail available. So tell us about this software if you know it or just found out about it, while i hope you enjoyed strolling through this small introduction post ;)

Cool, too bad you didn't have much of an audience... I enjoyed your little intro, it was perfect at that!
