The original showplace of Krakow - Quarry lake
It is very hard to believe that to see such beauty, you don't have to go far into the mountains:
This place is located in the heart of Krakow, near the center. An abandoned limestone quarry was perfected, and now there is a diving center and a huge park. How to find this place? Write the word Zakrzówek and see a huge water surface on the map with a title "Skałki Twardowskiego".
The quarry was developed in the 1940s, and in 1990 it was flooded. Previously, people swam there, but now it is forbidden because there were too many deaths. However, the lake is available for scuba diving. The maximum depth of the quarry lake is 32 m (104 ft), and visibility is 15 m (49 m). There is a flooded boat, bus, car, as well as a nameplate dedicated to Karol Józef Wojtyła (Pope John Paul II) who worked in a career during the war.
From the quarry, you can see the pride of Krakow - Wawel Castle. The whole city is buried in greenery.
There are many secret paths in the park.
Despite the beautiful views, the place is quite dangerous. It is not recommended to approach close to the edge because the rocks can ruin. However, this place is worth to admire it.
Despite the ban, of course, many people are swimming.
Water has a wonderful blue color. Live this place looks even better than in photographs.
