Car hacking is a national security issue, warns expert

in #news9 years ago (edited)

Modern cars have an 'open doors' for armlets from hostile states or terrorists, who want to use them as a weapon, a prominent cyber security expert has warned.

Justin Capposos, a computer scientist from the University of New York said that car hacking should be considered a national security issue in the current geo-political climate, because hackers can "kill millions of people" using the hijacked cars, thetimes.co said to .uk on Monday.

"Many of our enemies are nuclear powers, but in any country, cyber can kill millions of people with the ability to strike strike in cars. It's tough," said the CAPSOS.

"Any car that was created since 2005 can be controlled remotely by hackers with some cars which were also in risk till 2000. Hackers could already have caused the authorities to create accidents without realizing it Because no one was in search of proofs, "said Capos. "If there is a war or a war with a country with strong cyber capacity, then I would be very scared of hacking vehicles."
