ARE YOU ALSO AN UNCONVENTIONAL PERSON WHO APPRECIATE THE OPPORTUNITY OF STEEMIT?

I wonder how many Steemians wear the hat of being “unconventional”?

How many fellow Steemians feel that Steemit is providing us with an opportunity to branch away from the mainstream way of earning an income? In fact, I believe that Steemit is introducing us to the new way of working.

I always knew that I was not going to be a conventional lawyer. I also knew that I was not going to make a living out of filing motions and doing bail applications. I always believed that I was going to be a lawyer with a difference because I want to swim with the sharks!

I understand the value of money, but it is important for me to feed my soul. For me a job must quench my thirst for adventure and be ground-breaking. A job must touch my innermost being. A job must allow me to be authentic and happy with myself.

I was never going to allow a few dollars to own my soul. So, one morning I woke up an emailed my resignation to my boss.

The first few days after leaving my job, I explored some business ventures.

I was previously introduced to bitcoin but never scratched beyond the surface as I was busy with my studies.

However, my one friend kept prompting me to explore bitcoin.

I relented, but being the type of person that I am, I did a thorough exploration. I read and read. I read up on the blockchain, I read up on Bitcoin, Ethereum and cryptocurrency. But I am not a techno-geek or a programmer. I am interested in cryptocurrency from a business point of view.

Additionally, my thesis is about tax avoidance of multinationals and I found the blockchain technology very interesting in terms of my thesis as well. However, I am still deliberating how blockchain technology can be used to solve the problem of tax avoidance of multinationals……

I am working in the property industry and I need to start blogging on this topic. I was looking into using social media as a means of communicating with my clients. Because of this everything regarding social media marketing was of interest to me.

So, whilst I was researching the blockchain and cryptocurrency, Steemit and its social media platform caught my eye. In the video of @jerrybanfield he explained that one can earn money with blogging and commenting on posts. When he explained the Steemit model, I was immediately sold on it. I needed to start blogging anyway so writing regularly was one of my aims.

But I am not a tech savvy person and getting started on Steemit was a bit challenging. I must admit that in the first two to three days I felt that Steemit might be a little too difficult for me to master due to my limited computer skills. An article that I recently read warned against pursuing a business or project that is too difficult. I was tempted to quite Steemit more than once. The only thing that kept me going was the fact that I believed in Steemit and I wanted to learn more about the blockchain.

Once I registered on Steemit, I followed every member that wrote a post that I found interesting.

And then I found a gem, a jewel! I bumped into an article of @scrooger. @scrooger is amazing! Yes, newbies, please do yourselves a favour and follow @scrooger. You can thank me later.

@scrooger pointed me in the right direction and helped me out with some SBD as well! Wow! I really struck gold with him and with his articles.

And along the way on Steemit I have met some other wonderful and brilliant people who have taught me so much! ** Steemit is the university of blockchain, cryptocurrency, SEO, start-ups, ICO’s, whatever you need.**

I can honestly say that there has not been one day that I did not learnt anything on Steemit.

In fact, I told @scrooger, that I am going to spend my first few days just reading and absorbing all the new information. I commented on some posts and now I am slowly starting to blog.

I feel that Steemit is a two-way street. I feel that because there is so much valuable information coming from Steemit, that it will be my loss if I were to focus solely on blogging. I am using Steemit as an opportunity to upskill myself in the world of technology, cryptocurrency, blockchain, SEO, ICO’s etc. Steemit is a minefield of knowledge and I love it! Steemit social media platform is fascinating!!

Oh, and by the way, you do get paid for blogging and posting as well!

So, what was the initial drawcard for me has become something of an add-on, albeit a most welcome add-on!

Keep your eyes peeled as I meander through the maze of Steemit until I reach my destiny of finding answers for my business and my PhD through the new technological age that we have entered thanks to blockchain technology.
