At Walnut Woods Metro Park on Saturday, I wandered off the trail into random areas of the woods and came across this funky fresh conglomeration of branches. I'm really not sure how a tree branch ends up growing like this, it really seems like a lot of extra work, but it was interesting to look at! Nature does weird stuff sometimes and it keeps life interesting.

From what I could tell it was the same kind as all the surrounding trees!
