Mamma's Pottery
My mom loves to collect unique pieces of pottery and that's an interest that she's passed on to me. I hate the idea of having matching drinkware and appreciate when each individual piece has its own origin story. My wife and I have our own collection of pottery mugs, but this picture is of a tray of mugs at my parents' house.
My wife and I often go to my parents' abode on Sunday afternoons to hang out and and relax at their house in the country. Anytime we visit my mother makes some sort of hot drink for us to share (yesterday she overachieved and made both Chai and hot chocolate) and that gives us an excuse to use these pretty mugs. Drinking out of these mugs is an "at home" feeling for me and I'll always love sitting around while sipping on a tasty beverage and engaging in good conversation.
I know this isn't an amazing picture or anything, but I like what it represents and hope you can appreciate it as well!
Your parents collection of mugs are beautiful. I have a collection as well, each one made by one of my children. They all have a story. Thank you for sharing!
Ooh that's so cool! Love how special pottery can be. Great story!
Nice @yumyyumseth. It's funny how we have connections through such objects. I make pottery and this is one of the reasons why I'm drawn to it. Thanks for the words and picture :)
Ooh that's awesome! What sort of stuff do you make?
You can see some of my works here 👍 - https://steemit.com/art/@oen/showcasing-my-recent-ceramics-porcelain-and-stoneware
That's awesome dude, we have SO MANY mugs, not nicely made stuff like this, just bits and pieces from the last decade. Couple of unicorn mugs V obvs, couple of stolen Starbucks mugs, you know, the usual!
Haha I love it! Obviously everyone has a unicorn mug or two lolol. Oh, and I'm so gonna report you to Mr. Starbucks: the Lord of Coffee Related Retail.
really sweet collections colourful and amazing so sweet
Thanks man!
The history of the Chai is very interesting, sometimes the simple makes the difference
Very true! Well-made Chai is just hard to beat.
Photography is about evoking emotion or memories. We can all relate to the "at home" feeling you get from these
Agreed! Such a basic human emotion, but everyone has their own individual experiences and things that give them that feeling.
I wholeheartedly agree! There's nothing like nice mugs, the country, mom visits, and good hot drinks. Your Sundays sound awesome! I wish I could zip to my mom's place on Sundays!
So true, makes me feel cozy just thinking about it!
How far away does she live? I definitely take living near my parents for granted, but know that probably won't always be the case!
Ooh my mama lives about 6-7 hrs away by car (including the boat ride) or a quick 1hr flight 😊 so not too bad! I try to get up there once a season!
