Conkle's Hollow

in #photofeed8 years ago

Saturday afternoon my wife and I enjoyed a nice hike through Conkle's Hollow State Nature Preserve in the Hocking Hills area of Southern Ohio. It's a nice stroll along the edge of some cliffs surrounding a gorge and features some scenic overlooks at various points throughout the hike. It's an absolutely gorgeous place to be in autumn when the trees are red, orange, and yellow and you can look out over them in all their grandeur. It's a very different sort of view when there aren't leaves on most of the trees, but still a very enjoyable hike and still really pretty in a more muted and earthy sort of way!

Fun fact, legend has it that a group of Native Americans robbed some settlers back in the day and hid the booty somewhere in one of these cliffs. I kept my eyes open for it, but unfortunately didn't see any gold coins glinting in the sunlight.

Here are a few of my favorite pictures from the hike, you can click on any of the pictures for a larger size.

These landscape view is very amazing and calm to see.

Didn't you use to have a Canon 6d with a lot of fancy lenses? Wonder what happened to that ;)

But nice shots man! I really like the lone tree one..the colors flow well. Conkle's Hollow is where we went with the guys that one time, right?

Who!? ME!? Oh yeah, sounds familiar. Turns out the Fuji is just incredibly convenient to take around all the time! And takes some solid pictures too.

Thanks fam! And that's funny because I would definitely have picked that one towards the bottom out of these! Different strokes for different boys I guess. Yep! We went there and my tummy was in turmoil from all the hills on the way there.

Beautiful spot. I can only imagine when the leaves turn yellow...must be incredible.

Oooh for sure, that's definitely the time to go!

Nice . That first shot is like something from a bygone era.

Thanks Robert! Turns out it was only 3 days ago!

To be fair, it is bygone bynow

I love your superior sense of symmetry, However I can't stare to long at many of those photos, my fear of heights kicks in and I have to scroll down.

Thanks! Haha it was pretty steep in some places.

What a lovely way to spend a Sunday afternoon!

Or even a Saturday! ;)

Hahaha clearly I have been staring at my computer too long !

Haha! Happens to the best of us!

How large this preserve?
A photo of a curved tree resembles me the so-called Dancing Forest near the city of Kaliningrad in Russia.

It covers approximately 87 acres! And I just looked up pictures of that forest, and it looks so interesting! I can definitely see the similarities.

It is wonderful place. And pines there are so curved becouse beetles attack the bark of these pines. But it'really must seeing place imho.

Great photos man

nice view, and very happy with family, and relax, thanks for sharing @yumyumseth
