Quick thought about flagging

in #steemit10 years ago (edited)

I know it, and you all know it: Steemit is the next thing.

But tons of people are coming to this community mainly driven by the economic aspect. They read online about this platform in where everyone can take a slice of this huge cake.

Well that's good, this is a community and we all want it to grow; but there are downsides as well. You just got to check the 'new/created'  section in here and witness the insane amount of posts created each minute. If you just take a quick look, you can already see that a big (BIG) part of them are just copy-pastes of newspaper articles, links to random videos or literally just spam/promotion.

So simply, what I think is that in the same way we read through a good post and upvote it, we should use our 'power' and flag all this garbage content that we don't want to see in our social media platform. In the long term people will think twice before posting this type of content and I'm positive we'll be seeing less and less of it.

That's all for me, I just wanted to share this quick thought! (Oh and don't worry, the post that I flagged to create the gif really deserved it)

Sort:

wow yes just as our upvotes count for something we should use our flagging power to help prevent unwanted and nuisance spam content

I fully agree with you, i get such a down when i see myself powerless against them, but if we all flag something could be done, ill start right away.
