Introduction

Hello wonderful people, this is yet another day of contest and lucky for us, this one was hosted by @ponpase. All the forest lovers gather here, this is for you. My mom is the kind of persons that lives staying under the tree, most atimes she will instruct me to get a chair or a mat for her to lay on to receive down fresh air, especially when the day is hot am days justs wants to relax herself. She has a green thumb, one who loves planting, everyday you must see her in the farm or garden. If it is not a seed, leaves, yams or plantain, it is a new flower that she wants to plant.

Forest are truly nature's gift to mankind. It has proven itself times and times again without number and one that we cannot do without; a shame that deforestation is denying us this gift. From waking up every morning, to going to work, school, businesses; we sit okay chair, eat from a plate, go to the saloon. One way or the other, an essential component of these tools was gotten from the forest.

They regulate and cleanse the ecosystem: They are important for the well being of all the living organisms in the earth. The trees and plants inhale carbon dioxide and exhale oxygen, thus helping in clearing the air of most of the pollutants which are seen in our everyday lives and give us clean air to breathe in.

Provides Shelter for animals: They are home to numerous animals, statistics has shown that at about 90% of animals reside in the forest. If the forest are to be destroyed,where will these animals go to? Aside animals, they also serve as shades from sun, rain and sometimes harmful things to human beings.

Fertilizes the soil: They fertilizes the soil through the leaves that family to the ground and thereafter seeps into the soils giving it nutrients which helps the crops.

High in Medicinal values: The forest are home to most of the helpful herbs that are used to cure most illness. One who knows their way around herbs, cannot enter the forest without finding something that will be useful.

Boost the economy Forest is known to provide lost of good resources that can be used to produce good products for business. Iroko tree, bamboo trees are important for the creation of bed, chairs, tables, books, pens and many other things. Down product are less noticeable but also prominent for our daily lives, like detergents, clothes, toiletries, etc.

So in my school,we have a conference coming up soon and there will be lots and lots of cooking to be made. In order to cut costs for most of the things that we will be getting, we decided to go to the forest nearby to gather some, but before you do such you have to be sure that it was not someone else's property.

Yesterday I and my coursemates went into the forests to gather some firewoods. This will be our second time for this sort of thing. We were lucky and that we found some alongside the permernant site in Federal Polytechnic Oko You can check it out here with this Google maps.

Forest is very important, it is advisable that one should have a least a tree planted in around them. It makes things easier for us even if we might notice, most erosion around my area was stopped because of a tree that was beside it. Most of our survival depends on the forest and it's properties, it will be not be proper if they all disappear. How then can we survive?
