"A failure at life? ...I beg to differ"

This new record i'm presenting to my beautiful steemit community is a special one for me. "Days End", was written in two different phases of my life. The first verse dates back to my early career as a writer. I was around the tender age of 18-19.  I was still living at home and very much focused on my music career. "Mom dukes is tired of me, I figure she knows, I still be denying the weed". 

My relationship with my mom has always been great, but the one thing she despised the most was my love for the holy plant. There was even an understanding between us when it came to me smoking. My mother went from banning-it to accepting-it various times. I just had to deny it completely, living under her roof, for the sake of peace. The smell is impossible to hide really. It's going to get on your clothes or hair regardless. My mom wasn't stupid, she just overlooked it for the sake of our relationship. 

The second verse was written a few years later. About 7-8 years later. Which is pretty impressive considering how well they (first and second verse) compliment each other. The second verse was written in the studio after I had the first verse and hook ready to go. The second verse just came to me so naturally, writing about what I was going through at the moment. I was a new first-time father, to my beautiful first born Andrew Marqs. I wasn't too focused on music, as the project I was working on was titled "F.M.E." (For My Entertainment). I was making music because I love it, always have. Wasn't taking it seriously, I was more into the streets. Sadly as it sounds, after having my first child, I dabled more in hustling to make sure he got anything and everything he needed. 

I was in a dark place at that phase of my life. My son was my only sunshine. I was hustling and going out up to 3 nights a week. Messing with different women etc. It was a reaction to being separated from the mother of my child. I had this entire vision of being a "happy family". I looked forward to waking up to my son every morning. Then the mother of my first had other plans. She left me and broke my dream of a "happy family". I went back to doing what I knew how to do best. Sell drugs and party. I'm glad I took some time out to complete that EP (F.M.E.), because I made a few good classic Marqs songs.
