The diarygame| betterlife with steem: Won a tennis ladder match against Alain Gerard
Yesterday, I played against Alain Gerard who is the head of security for the French Embassy in Uganda. This great man is also participating in the ongoing ladder Tennis tournament. Since he was in my range of the players I was eligible to challenge this week, I reached out to him for a challenge.
We then scheduled to play our match on Saturday 26th/05/2022 at Kampala Club. He is a very tough player. I had to prepare my self during the week through consistent tennis practice.
Kampala club club has a strict policy. Only members of the club are allowed access to the club. For the visiting guest, he has to be hosted by a member of the club. Alain is a member in Kampala Club so he hosted me to play with him at the club. The moment I reached the club, he had already informed the security personnel at the gate of my coming. So I was let in with ease. I am glad there were no delays.
I parked my scooter in the parking yard and quickly went to the tennis courts department. I saw Alain already on the court busy warming up with a ball boy. He waved at me as he signaled me where he is. I had never met him. 😊 I just knew his name and voice on the phone.
I proceeded to the changing rooms to change my clothes. I put on my sports attire and rushed to the court. First had a little chat with my opponent "Alain." He told me a little about my performance in the ladder as he checked out my tennis results with the different players I have played in the ladder and congratulated me over all those victories. He told me that it was okay for him to lose against me since I have already proved to him that I am a good competitive player based on my previous results.
We warmed up together for about 5 minutes then we started the match. I took him lightly at the start of the first set and he surprisingly ended up winning the set on scores 6/2. I began playing on pressure, panicking and making lots of unforced errors.
The second set was so tight I had to use another strategy to secure the Victory over him. I slowed down the game play and ended up winning the set on scores 6/4. He confessed to me at the end of the match that he is not good at slow games. He made so many unforced errors.
The final set was also quite a tight one but since I am a physically fit tennis player who is still young and energetic, I ended up winning that final set on scores 6/3. Alain was so wornout. He confessed to me that he had not yet had enough sleep since he had gone out the previous night and drunk lots of beers. For me I was fresh and very energetic and that's why I beat him in the final set.
The final scores were 2/6 6/4 6/3. Victory 💪 to me 😉🙂
Though Alain confessed to not getting enough sleep, I believe this is incorrect. I think you're a great tennis player. That is why you always come out on top. Congratulations on your victory.
Thanks for the appreciation and for such kind words. 😊
You are welcome.
