Galadriel portrait drawing and photography at Hobbiton, Middle Earth (New Zealand)

I travelled to New Zealand in October 2012. While travelling I often create drawings for people I meet on my journey. While visiting the country where "Lord of the Rings" was filmed I drew two portraits of Galadriel. This is the second one. I did not take a photograph of the first one but I was very happy to give it away to a lovely honeymoon couple. On the 23rd of December my friend and I were hitch hiking at the South Island of New Zealand. We were picked up at beautiful Lake Tekapo by a very nice American traveller who wanted to visit Mount Cook very close by. Since we planned to celebrate Christmas in Queenstown we left his car and started hitching again. This was when we met the couple who visited some nice waterfalls with us and drove us all the way down to Queenstown. While driving I noticed that I forgot my camera in the car of our previous driver and was sad. Especially because I bought the camera 2 days before when my first camera broke and because the first pictures on the cam were already very unique for it showed me and my friend with Christmas hoods in front of beautiful Lake Tekapo which is surrounded by millions of purple flowers during that time of the year. Now when we left their car the couple wanted to give me some money to buy a new camera. I first refused to take it for I was already so happy that they drove with us all day but when they insisted to give me the money I gave them my first drawing of Galadriel.
This one the second drawing I made in Auckland New Zealand for a host who gave me his couch to sleep on for one week. A friend of mine was renting a room at his place and I was waiting for a friend who was about to arrive from Germany in a view days. We watched all LotR movies (first time extended version for me!) together. When my friend arrived one of his friends, who I just met that day, gave us the first ride out of town and we could stay at his parents place for the first night.

Some weeks later my friend and me visited the movie set of "Hobbiton".

New Zealand has an awesomely beautiful nature and even though the movie sets are beautiful spots, there are even more beautiful places all over the islands. I miss the friendly people and the stunning flora and fauna. A huge THANK YOU! to all the lovely beings I met and travelled with.
