One of the habits of Indonesian people is doing religious tourism. Religious tourism is closely related to the religious side, like visiting places of worship that have advantages in terms of history, myths or legends, and the uniqueness and superiority of the architecture of the building. Religious tourism is associated with the intention of the tourist to obtain blessings and the wisdom of his life.

In Jakarta, there are several places that can be visited for religious tourism. All of them are always closely related to religious figures for Muslims. One of the religious tourist places is the Luar Batang Mosque. This mosque is quite famous because there is a sacred tomb of Sayid Husein bin Abubakar bin Abdillah Alaydrus who died in 1756.

According to the historical records of the city of Jakarta, there is no definite year when the Luar Batang Mosque was established. There is only a note that the mosque was completed on 20 Muharram 1152 Hijriah or April 29, 1739. Then who is Sayid Husein bin Abubakar bin Abdillah Alaydrus, who is called Habib Husein?

Habib Husein is an Arab Handhramaut who emigrated to the island of Java via the Sunda Kelapa port. A cleric opposed Dutch colonialism by defending a Chinese man who had escaped from prison because he was about to be sentenced to death. Because of his attitude against the invaders and defending the weak, many people came to study with Habib Husein. Frightened by his increasing number of followers, Habib Husein was finally arrested and imprisoned.

While in prison, Habib Husein was placed in a separate room with his followers. But when it was time for prayer, Habib Husein always seemed to be the imam of the prayer in a large room. But at the same time, the guard also saw him sleeping in his locked room. Because there were always oddities like that, Habib Husein was finally released.

A strange incident occurred when Habib Husein died on June 27, 1756. His body was carried with a coffin (brackets) to be buried in the Tanah Abang area. When arriving at the gravesite, Habib Husein's body was not in the coffin. His body has returned to his home. This happened repeatedly until it was finally agreed that Habib Husein was buried in his house next to the Luar Batang Mosque. This incident finally created the name of the Luar (Outer) Batang (Coffin) Mosque from the story of the corpse that was outside the cage.
