One monument is good and two are better!
What is it, you might think you seeing double? Two monuments on one photo, how is it possible? Everything is very easy to explain. A miniature copy, intended for visually impaired people, was installed near the Taras Shevchenko monument in Lviv. Now they can touch this small copy with their fingers and imagine what the monument looks like. In the layout, besides the exact copy of the monument, there is an information sign, written in Braille.

Біля пам'ятника Тарасові Шевченку у Львові встановили мініатюрну копію, призначену для людей з вадами зору. Тепер вони можуть доторкнутися до цієї зменшеної копії пальцями і уявити як виглядає пам'ятник. На макеті окрім точної копії пам'ятника є інформаційна табличка, написана шрифтом Брайля.
The figure of Taras Shevchenko, the great Ukrainian poet, was installed on this plaсe in 1992. Height of the figure is 4.5 m. The figure of the poet is to the left of the "Wave of National Renaissance" - a 12-meter symbolic stele with figured bas-reliefs. All work on the construction of the stele was completed in 1996. The figure reliefs on it symbolically depict the history of Ukraine from the times of Kievan Rus to the beginning of the XX century on the front side and the history of Ukraine of the XX century - on the opposite side.
Фігура Тараса Шевченка, великого українського поета, була встановлена на цьому місці у 1992 році. Висота фігури - 4,5 м. Ліворуч фігури поета стоїть «Хвиля національного відродження» — 12-метрова символічна стела з фігурними барельєфами. Усі роботи щодо спорудження стели було завершено 1996 року. Фігурні рельєфи на ній символічно зображують історію України від часів Київської Русі до початку XX ст на передній стороні та історію України XX ст — на зворотньому боці.

Туристи вже встигли вподобати нового мініатюрного Шевченка і натерли його лисину до блиску, загадуючи бажання.
