THE AU MEMBER LIST; Libya Included?
A Ghanaian Legal practitioner and lecturer of law has asked for the African Union holiday to be suspended until the body wakes up to their duty call and does the needful regarding the current situation in Lybia.
It is worrying that in the event of something like this among us as a people, our union of nations has had nothing to do about it so far, and that, it is the French who are spearheding the fight by presenting the case to the UN Security Council..
“What at all is the AU doing? Until they are able to fix this; by whichever means (law or force), we may as well put a stop to celebrating our AU day as a union; Ace Kojo Annan Ankomah laments.
His reactions came, following a video on CNN from Libya showing hundreds of our people being sold at auctions. Our sister country, over the years has been known as the pathway to Europe by most of our African young men and women who try to get into Europe from there by sea.
“There needs to be something done about it, and every single West African who has as much as attempted this journeying to Libya is a disgrace to our West African governments,” he added.
According to him, Our leaders as Africans, have not done a good job improving our living standards in our various countries and as a continent, and that has by far, affected the lives of the people and even the thinking of the people
.
He said they amass the wealth for their individual gain instead of putting themselves to creating better life opportunities for the very citizens they claim to govern.
We should look into these things and see how the factors that are pushing our youth away can be limited and better still, corrected. Its until then that they (westerners) can cease to tell us how to pass our laws, employ our people or even how to pay them.
He admonished the public to put a stop to sharing and broadcasting recruitment offers in the Western World on social media, as most of them turn out to be scams, which in the long run, plummets incidences of illegal migration.
