AN ARTWORK FOR @samstickkz

I knew Steemit through @samstickkz; from his Facebook posts about steemit.

He preached @steemit so much I had to fall under the anointing.

He's a humble guy, gentle giant, giver, believer, coach, philanthropist, futurist, smart, you can name it.

He inspired me into doing this, so I'm dedicating this tutorial to him, and @ewuoso who brought up the idea of a tutorial.

TUTORIAL

Tools used: Adobe Illustrator, Photohop.

-Open the original image with photoshop
-Saturate it
-Original image>Adjustments>Posterize
*Use levels-5 for posterize.
Save both original and the other (saturated and posterized image).

-Then open the original and posterized image with Illustrator.
-Open Adobe illustrator>File>Open>select the original image and upload.
-File>Place>select the posterized image and upload.

N/B: PLACE THE POSTERIZED OVER THE ORIGINAL.

Make sure they are on the same level.

Create a new layer for the eyes, face, neck, lip, brows and beards, hair, clothe and background

N/B: You don't have to follow this sequence. But always create a new layer for each part of you drawing.

EYES

-I always start with tracing the eye, because there lies the beauty of the drawing.

N/B: You can start anywhere, you are comfortable with.

-Draw the black outline.

-Followed with the whitish part

-The lens, and light reflection.

*Do the same for the other eye

FACE

-Make sure the posterized image is visible over the original image (so that you see the highlights and shadows).

-Trace every shapes you see there.

Start with bigger ones before the smaller ones.

-Use the eye dropper tool to pick the color, then you trace the shape.

Continue, till you get all the shapes.

*>N/B: Always choose a midtone, and draw the whole face. *

Midtone is the one highlighted here.

Hair

This is simple, you don't have to do much work, just follow the outline of the posterized image.

Neck

Drawing the neck is the same thing with the face.
-Pick a midtone color.
-Trace over the whole neck
-Then trace the other shape

Eyebrows and Beard.

-Follow the outline from the posterized image. It doesn't have to be so real.

Lips

-Pick a midtone color, then trace the shape of the lip.
-Use the eyedropper tool, to pick the color and trace the outlines.

SHIRT

Everything depend on the level of posterize
How you posterize, could make the final image more realistic or less.
-Follow the outline and trace over it.
Trace the shadows and shirt bends.

You can choose to do this, or leave, but I think its gives more effect to the image.

ADDING SKINTONE

> I WILL SHOW THE SIMPLEST WAY TO ADD SKIN TONE.

-Pick the midtone (I ask you to draw earlier).
Double click on " Color Fill"
and type in this #875748 (But you can choose any color you want.)

Then where you see shadows on the face.
-Click on Transparency
-Choose Blending mode (Multiply)

• Then Opacity use 20%

*These are the ones I have highlighted.

Then the highlights choose.
-Choose Screen for blending mode and 10% for opacity.

*I just love toning everything down.

Do the same for the neck.

ADDING COLOUR TO THE MOUTH

-Pick a midtone color (a15346)

-Shadows
Blending mode - Multiply
Opacity- 20%

-Highlights
Blending mode- Screen
Opacity-10%

Background

You can choose to draw any design you want to do (Yours could be better than mine) ...
Just make it colorful and nice to pop put the drawing.
