Steemit as a forum site? Maybe?
Steemit is the perfect avenue for a forum website!! It's interactive and it pays!!
I was talking to my friend about steemit and the idea popped into my head. The format of steemit is not that different from that of many forum sites that can be found all over the web. If that's the case, then we can totally make this site really popular by posting information on a wide variety of topics!
Personally, I've always found the range of topics on steemit to be limited, kind of frivolous and impractical, and well, crypto. Not that there's anything wrong with the topics on steemit, I just think that more people should be taking advantage of its pay for work quality. I mean, how many of us have ever gotten valuable information from a forum website? I'm pretty sure that most of the authors on those sites don't get paid either!
Personally, I've used forums for information about how to fix my PC, my operating system, how to beat a video game and so much more. Would this type of content destroy Steemit's credibility? Or maybe the people that post it probably won't get paid, at least not at first. See, most of the users on steemit are probably interested in the topics that make the most payouts, the thing is, those guys are already here so, moving on!!
I mean, we focus so much on working on topics that the "Steemit Community" is interested in, what about the rest of the world? Someone doesn't have to be a member of the Steemit cult in order to appreciate the good information! Plus, if more varied and different types of information and information types are loaded on the platform, we will generate so much more traffic simply by people googling topics and finding steemit pages!
If the content on steemit remains only suited for the avid steemit user, it's quite unlikely that we will grow as a useful website, far less replace Facebook! And all this despite the constant pleas for "good content" from existing Steemians and somehow, the seem to know what "good content" is... I find this ludicrous since the result is simply the same flavor all around. BORING!!! But oh well, do what pays right? i.e The Death of Steemit.
So idk, it's just a thought. In my opinion, steemit is a way too organic a crypto and easy to earn on to be this unpopular in the mainstream. That works for cryptos, sure, half the world has never heard of bitcoin and that's fine, it's still kicking ass! However, I dare you to find someone who hasn't heard of Facebook.
Steemit still has a long way to go and think about it for a minute. On average, you are quite unlikely to meet a random person who happens to be into crypto and knows about Bitcoin, far less for Etherium and the other coins. Competing purely as a crypto, what chance does steemit have really?
Steemit has to widen its content scope, let's start small, forget Facebook, let's replace forum sites!! I suppose reading in between lines for you, the persons that start putting different information types on steemit, for the wider world community, probably won't make much for their efforts. Oh well.
Have a great evening Steemians and good luck!!

Cool, just trying to find ways of making steemit not just for crypto nerds.
