Poem / Random Stranger
Random Stranger
Dawn has brought a new day
Filled with words I need to say
Walking here in this overhang
The sun about to rise over the horizon
The bitter bite of the cold air
Freezes the tiny droplets in my hair
A small bench lies at the edge
Sitting down to think and ponder
I plugged in my earphones to forget about the sounds around
To release my mind and escape in the sound
Five minutes later
I am accompanied by another
Only to find
It's a female
She seems kind
An awkward atmosphere
Started to appear
The moment she looked over and pulled out the one ear
She greeted me with a warm smile
And asked if I had just ran a hundred miles
In reply all I could manage was a no
And tried to hide my pink glow
Not knowing what to say I looked away
She scrambled around in her bag
Pulled out paper and scribbled something
She seemed to be writing an essay
At least five minutes passed away
She jabbed me in the side
Then stretched out her hand
I offered mine
She gave me the paper and told me to look inside
Turned in a step and took off in a graceful glide
I obeyed her instructions
And unwrapped the note
It read:
Random stranger
I saw you from a far
You looked like you were gazing at stars
So involved in your mind
Almost lost in time
I observed for a while
And then I saw your smile
It was a subtle contraction in your cheeks
I was drawn by it
I took a seat
You didn't even look to the side
Staring so deeply into space
With that lost smile on your face
I wanted to know what you were thinking
A thought of reckoning perhaps?
That might make your soul collapse?
Over thinking is potentially violent
Don't get to involved in past moments
There is still so much ahead
Just forgive and forget
From your random stranger
Contact me if your thoughts put you in danger
As I read the final words
What did I do to deserve
The compassion I was shown
By a complete unknown
Overwhelmed by what she wrote
I jumped onto me feet
To find the owner of the note
I wanted to spend some time
And find out what was going on in her mind
I sprinted as fast as I could
To unveil the voice behind that hood
I remembered she wrote a number
I stared at my phone in wonder

Beautiful!thanks for sharing!
Good job, man! There is less and less real art!
i like your poetry man...another thumbs up
it's really beautiful...don't stop sharing
Cool!! I think this is my favorite writing of yours, Ethan. It reads like the beginning of a short story. You have a great ability to bring out emotion and life in the form of a poem. It piqued my interest and made me want to get to know the characters more. If you feel like extending the story, I'll be eagerly anticipating it :D
Thank you :) I'm not sure if I am able to extend it but I will do simillar works to it :D
Ethan, once again my bot hasn't informed me that you posted nor did it vote. It is very frustrating. I loved your poem today. It was absolutely beautiful and touching. It said a lot about being so wrapped up in thought that you might miss a wonderful opportunity to meet a special someone. Then is showed that an option was left for him to follow up. I hope he does!!!! A great poem!
Thank you, I think bots are a bit buggy, the trail that usually follows me is also having problems.
You did it again!
