Tronix: Will Tron Dogs be the next blockchain killer app?
More than $100 000. That's what the most expensive Crypto-Kitty sold for on the Ethereum-based app.
Now in development and just about ready to launch, we have a new competitor: The Tron Dogs trading app.
Justin Sun, founder of Tron, recently tweeted that the app is nearly ready for launch.
Tron is not just making a pet-trading game. Tron aims to be a solution to the centralized control of internet content, and this app will provide proof of one element of application of the technology. Long-term, this goal is quite a bit more lofty, and could have a significant impact on how we consume entertainment on the internet.
Gamers can be irrationally exuberant when it comes to collectibles in games. We have witnessed this with the ridiculous spending on digital Crypto-Kitties already. It will be interesting to see how the value of Tronix (Tron currency) will correlate with the game's popularity, or lack thereof.
The basic idea of the game will be to purchase dogs with the currency Tronix, which will then be bred to create unique dogs that can then be sold to others for their desirable and unique features, as they are uniquely created and stored on the blockchain.
As it stands now, Tronix (TRX) has been highly successful in growing its value and recognition. In the past week alone, Tronix has more than doubled from about 3 cents USD to the current market price around 8 cents. As the TRX Dogs app approaches release, there could be quite a buzz stirring around this coin.

Jeez. I hope this doesn’t take off. But it explains why the TRON price is shooting up. I feel like these sorts of games are ridiculous, but i may get into it from the start since cryptokitties became such a success. I dont really understand the premise though
If you're old enough to remember Cabbage Patch Dolls, you have an inkling of what is appealing about these games. People liked the idea that each doll was unique - unlike everyone else's doll.
This is what makes a collectable game like this interesting to these gamers. Each animal will be unique and stored on the blockchain. Even if the developers left the game to run without any intervention, it would continue to exist on the blockchain.
Gamers can spend ridiculous quantities of money on micro-transactions and collectables. This game is being developed for the Chinese market in particular, where these sorts of games are tremendously popular. In addition, the Year of the Dog begins soon in China - which will only bolster the popularity of the game.
I understand why people like it I guess. It just doesn’t interest me personally. But maybe if i look into it more i can get in and make some money. And maybe enjoy the game while i do it. Idk. Are you going to participate in it?
Nah I'll just buy Tronix heh. More entertaining.
