On the road again. Today we visit Dalsland's canal, Sweden (part 1)
Dalsland's canal is a canal in Sweden that enables boat traffic between Vänern and parts of the lakes in the interior of Dalsland and southwestern Värmland. The canal passes over the famous aqueduct in Håverud and is a well-visited tourist destination in the summer, especially for those who bring a canoe or kayak.
Lake Vänern is itself part of the Göta canal system. This means that the lakes in Dalsland's canal can be trafficked from the Kattegat near Gothenburg; from the Stockholm archipelago, or - if you have a smaller boat - from a large number of boat ramps in Sweden (e.g. Töcksfors, Årjäng, Bengtsfors) or even from the Norwegian side, in Store Le near Otteid in Marker municipality.
