Swapmeet Finds #2559
And to start today off, we have a few pictures from May Day (May 1) 1955 at the Catskill Ave. School in Wilmington, California (now in the city of Carson at 23536 Catskill Ave, Carson, CA 90745). Either parents were invited that day or Jeanette just decided to show up. Looks like they didn't have a lunch room at this school and all the kids just ate outside. Or maybe just the kids who brought their lunch. Interesting to check out all the lunch boxes! :-)
Anyway, here's what's written on the back of each photo:
"Catskill Ave. School, May Day 1955. Michael Shubach, Shaun and Darliss (Play Leader)"
"Catskill Ave. School May Day Program, 1955. Lunch time. Rosie, Linda Huckabee and Lynn"
"Mr. Thom. Estes, Shaun's 2nd Grade teacher, Catskill Ave. School 1955"
lovely history @xntryk1

They celebrated Commie Day openly back then? I'm actually surprised.
Judging by the boy's teeth, I'll bet he packed willow twigs in his lunchbox.
Ha-ha! I think they just danced around "May Poles" back then... :-)
the ferst photo is nice
