Jesus said: Love your neighbor as yourself. These words of Jesus give man the right to think about himself, but he also places clear limits on selfishness and exhorts us to treat all our fellow men with love.

The love of neighbor urges us to practice mercy with everyone when they are in need of it and when not, even with enemies. Love of neighbor is found in selfless action for the good of others, mainly those who in some way are discriminated against.

Loving our neighbor is not easy, because even though we are not perfect, we demand perfection in others. We are intolerant and it is hard for us to accept the weaknesses of others, without even understanding how imperfect we are ourselves. The Bible says in Romans 13: 8 "Owe no one anything, but love one another, for he who loves his neighbor has fulfilled the law."

He also says in 1 John 4:21: "And we have this commandment from him: He who loves God, let him also love his brother." But although it sounds very nice and spiritual, from the saying to the fact there is a lot of distance, because how can we love someone who hurts us? Because the enemy is also our neighbor and we have to love him.

It is hard for us to love him because we lack love, but not any love, but the love of Christ, our Savior, who was able to give his own life for all sinners. That is the reason why it is so hard for us to love our neighbor, but in spite of how difficult it can be, we have no choice and we have to love our neighbor, because it is a duty, a requirement, an inevitable obligation, because by rejecting it we do not reject to man but we reject God, as the Bible says, and one day Jesus Christ will ask us to account for this.

How can we achieve it? It is necessary to understand that it would be impossible to achieve in our own strength, so we must ask God to fill our hearts with the love of Jesus Christ, because only with the love of Christ is that we can tolerate, accept and serve our neighbor in a truly unconditional.

The Holy Spirit is the one who enables us to kill our human weaknesses and raise ourselves to the spiritual level of God's unconditional love, to truly love our neighbor, help him and serve him, because when the love of Christ fills our hearts, we fall in love with God and also with God. all his creation.

As followers of Christ we are not only called to practice loving our neighbor in material things, but to call other people's attention to the gospel. This is love in fact and in truth.

Practicing love of neighbor in all its forms deserves great recognition. The more it is applied, the more need will be alleviated. The doctrine of Jesus shows that love of neighbor reaches all its fullness through the love of God.
