Don't we I just wait for the movie? All great literature become movies, right? A Clockwork Orange, Catch 22, Faust. And the list goes on.

But I must choose three, and they must be books, and it should probably be something I have read. I'll need to dig back in the deep, dark, recesses of my memory, since I don't recall reading anything other than manuals and technical books anytime recently.

Author One: Joseph Campbell

All of his books. All of them. Every single one of Joseph Campbell's books have been turned into every movie of all time.

Star Wars? Joseph Campbell, The Hero with a Thousand Faces
Blade Runner? Joseph Campbell, The Hero with a Thousand Faces
Iron Man? Joseph Campbell, The Hero with a Thousand Faces

Every movie and story ever written meets the theory of myth and heroism as seen in that book.

Author 2: J.R.R. Tolkien

Lord of the Rings. I remember sitting in my room as a boy reading this book front to end and being absolutely fascinated by it. It made such an impression on me that, years later, I was able to identify parts that were actually missing from the Lord of the Rings movie trilogy.

Author 3: Shakespeare

Yeah, I know, he's old, passe, and writes in awful verse that no one understands. But he's the king of poets, was quite the ladies man, and made enough of an impression upon me that I'm naming my soon-to-be tabletop game after one of his better known phrases: Frogs of War. "Cry havoc, and let loose the frogs of war!" Sends chills down your spine, doesn't it?

Haha, glad you were able to dust off that memory to join us this month. You sound a lot like my boyfriend, "Why read the book when you can just wait for the movie? They'll fix everything wrong in the book and make it better anyway?" 😂 You picked some good ones, though, so I imagine they might do quite well in the dpolls. Though you never know how the Steemian voting will go! Good luck!

Awesome choices. Oh to be on the level of a Joseph Campbell huh? What dreams are made of.

Many, many years ago when I was in the army, some of us made big plans to create the first Hobbit movie when we got out. You must have missed that one, lol.

Shakespeare - he's one of the all-time greats whether anyone picked him or not! I've always loved his house so much, I wish I could have an exact replica!

I stumbled upon Joseph Campbell quite by accident, too; I was originally just looking for a new book of myths! Imagine my surprise when I got that one home!

JRR Tolkien "done and dusted" from the Hobbit through the Trilogy about three times.

Don't know Joseph Campbell as an author, however do recognize the movies mentioned.

As for Shakespeare, never quite captured my interest in that old English style writings, did touch on some of his works at school.

ha! Victor, I love your style ("I better wait for the movie...")
Campbell is cool. its no shame to stand in this row among Shakespeare and JRRT! respect.

Thanks @qwerrie! I'm probably going to get trounced again this poll, but I gotta be true to myself :)

well, your post dont match well some formal criteria (quantity of the words mostly! hehe. some will name it low effort...) but you apparently have my voice. hope i dont miss the dpoll..

Nothing like a little hobbit and LOTR to get you lost down a rabbit hole! Can I be proud that he was born in South Africa lol?

Haha, absolutely you can! We Canadians will cling to absolutely any achievement that was even remotely touched upon in Canada.

LOL thanks, so in that case how do we split Elon Musk since his half South African and half Canadian? Do we get him every second weekend?

BAHAHA! No, you can keep him. ;)

Hahahaha!

Don't know how I missed this!

Who reads anymore?

Me! And, I hasten to add, sometimes usually the book's better than the movie! Except, in certain circumstances, Shakespeare. Since technically, he's not an author, he's a playwrite and plays are scripts - stage or film... #justsaying... :P

You chose good ones.

I think whats fun for books turning into movies, is if theres a book that you want to get into and dont have the time, and they made a movie of it, the movie can replace it and satisfy in that case.

What sucks about turning a book into a movie is the many details that are left out. it takes away our imagination and the characters aren't depicted in the same way our minds do and so we are given a negative feel to it from the start. Reason why I just don't want to read some books lol. Although, if I find out that one of my favorite shows is a series of books, Im on it! Its got some juicy details in the show already, imagine reading it in even more detailed description!
