Sublime Sunday - Thanksgiving (Sort Of)

Today was a wonderfully lazy day. A very #sublimesunday if ever there was one. The day started incredibly lazily, close to 8:30, and consisted of feeding the animals (the four legged ones, not the offspring), showering, and enjoying the rest of the morning with hot coffee. I did get out to mow the lawn one last time for the season, but that was the last of the daily chores. A hair cut for me and the eldest was next (which included a scalp and shoulder massage... ooooohh... I wonder if they ever have people offer to marry them right then and there) and then my youngest and I tried our hand at a stop motion video. That'll be another post.

Tomorrow is a pair of holidays in North America: Columbus Day in the US, and Thanksgiving Day in Canada. Being a dual-national I get to celebrate both, though I really don't have any need for Columbus Day at all. I don't have tomorrow off, so today it was: Thanksgiving.

I've had more than a few people, all American, ask me why Canadians celebrate a Thanksgiving so early in the season (American Thanksgiving is in November); I've also been asked what Canadians are thankful for. So, should anyone else be curious, and in no particular order, here are some answers, in a typically Canadian fashion:

  • Canadian Thanksgiving is in October because that is the end of the harvest and growing season. From this point forward, it gets cold.
  • Canadians are thankful for a large number of things:
** We're not American (hah). Sorry.
** We're thankful that we're awesome enough to need to apologise for it. A lot. And we do. Sorry about that.
** The vast majority of us are thankful to not live in Edmonton. (hah!) Decidely not sorry for that.
** We're thankful that it's not always winter.
** We're thankful that we've figured out what to do in winter; ice hockey!
** We're thankful we've never found a need to celebrate Columbus.

And now, what you all really want to see anyway: food porn.

Thankful for not being American, but copied American holiday and the food they serve! 😂

Looks good!

Hahah. I know, the irony of it all is that I moved to the US, became a citizen, and have children born here. No going back now! :)

Hahaha this is funny :D

Happy Thanksgiving!! It looks like you had a most wonderful celebration!!! Hehe! Every Canadian I know always tells me they are glad they aren't American. LOL

I do believe that you wrote your Thanksgiving list tongue in cheek, or arm under the armpit my friend?
Do you really dislike uncle Christopher all that much?
Those food shots look great.
Blessings!

Oh it was very much tongue in cheek, like most everything that I do. If I'm being serious I'm probably in a negative frame of mind, or focused.

Thanks for stopping by!

Oh! I forgot to upvote this yesterday! My apologies!
Done now!
Blessings!

Humor is so essential in life my friend.
Blessings!

So funny! I'll bet there was a lot of laughter with that food. Same menu as the Americans I see.

Well, I am in Delaware now. :) We won't do turkey in November, though; most of the family doesn't actually like it! It was a really fun time, despite the moody teens. :)

Grateful for meeting you grateful to be opposite of the water between us and grateful for steemit 😉

Yes, me too! And beer, and coffee! Very grateful for beer and coffee. :)
