I woke up this morning with just ... that feeling. I knew the day was going to get worse before it got better. I took a deep breath, steeled myself for the morning onslaught, and lifted myself out of bed.

Down the hall, one door, then the next, and the next: "Good morning boys! Up and ready for school, or I start singing!" They hated it when I sang, mostly because I wasn't very good at it. Actually, it was completely because I wasn't very good at it. Actually... I was outright awful. The threat usually worked.

And one by one they staggered out of bed, zombie teenagers, stumbling about the house in search of life.

Breakfast served, lunch packed, off to the bus. That wasn't so bad now, was it? But... my gut feeling... just not going away.

I sighed, and went to take care of it. The gut feeling. Last night's spice. It would get worse before it got better.

(A fiction; I don't eat spicey; I was taught to eat by a very English grandmother)
