Train ride across Turtle Island - September 2017
In the spring of 2017 I was invited to Windsor Ontario to perform a spiritual wedding ceremony for a couple. It was one of the most amazing honours and invitations I've received in years. I've never performed a ceremony like this before, so we spent months working out the details. Getting there was going to be a challenge as I have no government issued ID. The solution: Via Rail
There was a risk as they always hold the right to check for ID, but they never did. So my wife and I spent 2 1/2 days traveling from Edmonton to Windsor through Toronto and it was the most beautiful trip I've been on. I took the bus from Edmonton to Toronto in 2008 to do my very first workshop, but this trip made that one look like a poorly run rodeo.
This is a beautiful planet. It is our job to protect it and bring prosperity for all. This trip reminded me how sacred and precious it really is.
If you are not aware, clear cutting does happen here and it just devastates the environment. They leave a few trees standing here and there to mimic a forest fire. What a travesty.

CN Tower at night as we were getting on the train to head home. If you ever get a chance, I recommend a ride across this land. It will truly give you a perspective at just how big and beautiful this land is. It all needs to be protected, cherished and held sacred.

One of the most wonderful trips I took as a young adult was taking the train across Turtle Island from shining sea to shining sea. It was worth it in every aspect. My Great Uncle was a conductor for CP rail and he gave me a CP rail pass for my 18th birthday. Best present ever for a teen. The country is indescribable in its majesty and beauty.
The only place where I was really sadden was going around the lake head passing Sudbury. It looked like the lunar landscape back then. Everything was grey. No living trees. Pollution from the big smelters.
Some beautiful spring I would like to make that trip again!
Sounds wonderful! My heart ached when I saw the potash mines in Saskatchewan. Piles and piles all over the place. Doing from coast to coast would be a spectacular trip!
It's beautiful! It reminds me of our Creator whenever I see beautiful landscapes like this and how much more we need to be good stewards to protect them. By the way, how did you take pictures of the train top? Also, how do you perform a spiritual wedding ceremony?
The train top was taken through the observation platform. As for the wedding ceremony, we created the ceremony and performed it. Not complicated.
Beautiful pictures my friend, when they clear cut here in Arkansas nothing is left. They do replant but take way more than necessary in my opinion. The only old growth trees to be found are on a very little bit of private ground and in the mountains where it's not profitable for them to harvest.
I've never been riding a train or a plane but I'm sure it'll be awesome... I'm planning on doing a tour of the desert. By bus. It takes 28 hours... I want to live this for the sake of spiritual rest. But I don't know when.
thank you my brother @wwf
Sounds wonderful. Take lots of pictures. I would love to see the trip and share in your insights and experiences through it all.
what a wonderful adventure you had. But how were you able to cope, traveling for good 2 1/2 days, did you prepared to have it that long?
Yes. We packed three days of food and water as we did not want to eat any of the crap they were selling on the train. So we went prepared.
Now i understand. Guess you had a lot of fun
Beautiful pictures! And yes, the land absolutely needs to be protected, people can be so careless and destructive. Thanks for posting!
I used to travel on the train all the time when I was in China. It was the most convenient (and cheap) way to travel. And, as you have experienced, it really lets you soak in the scenery.
Thanks for sharing!
Beautiful scenery, I bet you were ready to get off the train after 2.5 days?
lol. It was not as bad as the bus. We could walk around and go into the viewing car for snacks or to sit in the viewing area. I did a lot of standing and there was way more room to sleep on the seats than a bus. But it was a long trip. I enjoyed it!
very nice trip photo
