"Au Clair de la Lune" - A Mixed Media Painting Of Montmartre / Paris (With Steps)

"Au Clair de la Lune" is a small restaurant located at Rue Poulbot, a cul-de-sac on the Montmartre hill of Paris / France. It's just a touch of the beaten path, by 100 yards or so, the food and the prices are decent (for such a touristy area) and the chances of a table with some peace and quiet are pretty good.
The view I painted is reasonably picturesque and has "that Paris feel" to it. Turn around, and it's just an ugly little alleyway:

And as promised earlier, just 100 yards away, we're back on Rue Norvins, the main drag past Place du Tertre, where painters and other artists ambush the unsuspecting tourists ;-) (see above)
Anyway, so much about the back story - here are the steps of the painting:

That's cool seeing the progression of how your artwork was created. Very cool. Its neat seeing the surrounding area as well (the alleyway behind the street). It gives one a sense of the area as it truly is. I sometimes do that with my photos. Zoom out from a picturesque monument or piece of scenery and boom - people everywhere. Swarms of them. Touristy spots aren't always like they are pictured on the internet.

Thanks! I appreciate you taking the time and letting me know your thoughts. When travelling I have always tried to peak behind the obvious (not that this is a particular example) and found it very rewarding. That, and talking to people. I have been to a Breton wedding, a Welsh choir, and God knows what else. I lost almost all of my photos (all 35 mm slides) during hurricane Charley in Punta Gorda - Steem posts 'til the end of time ;-) Maybe I get to paint some of those priceless memories as I get proficient in the craft of painting.
