It's fascinating how we never get lost in a moment.

Look around - all the people are running in circles, hoarding things and collecting ticks on their fake checklists, for... no particular reason. They just do it because what else can a human do? I caught myself thinking about the future (both short term and long term) a little too much lately. I mean, it went to the point when I couldn't enjoy the moment anymore and just constantly pushed myself to do more and faster. Sadly, I am too lazy to do more and faster, so I ended up in a vortex of unmatching wishes and reality.

And then, I went to sit by the river without any goals - just like I always loved to do. I mean, I let myself get lost in the moment. It felt so great. The only thing I could think of is

Why the hell we, humans, are so anxious and afraid of the future?

Seriously, we spend most of our life being afraid of the future which is uncertain. It means that we are afraid of something that is unreal. As far as I am concerned it is not a sign of a sane person, is it? Yup, we are all insane.

I am also not supportive of people who don't pay attention to the future and don't have a plan but let's not get radical here. We all must work, and we all must be able to take care of ourselves. However, we should not be afraid of the future. It is the state of being I am talking about, not the actions. And I am working hard to learn how to live in the present as much as possible. Sadly, I am freaking insane. Sadly, I am still afraid of something that will most likely never happen. Amazing, isn't it?

So just go to your favorite spot and sit without any regrets, fears, or wishes. Just sit.

Right. There is a disparity between what people think will make them happy, what they DO about it, and what actually makes people happy. Then people tend to only live in the future and/or the past. We should be in the moment most of the time, but also plan ahead as you say. But rationally so. Not daydreaming. If you do that too much..perhaps, you daydream about a Ferrari. How it would feel to drive up in your dads driveway with a Ferrari. How would he react? What would you say? Will he understand how sucessfull and smart you are now? How would life on that yacht be. Imagine how all those women would react.

Instead..work, stay fit, make good decisions for the future, stay safe, have a good economy and then never forget to visit a beautiful river and just look at it or fish or whatever.

What a nice river by the way. Where is it?

Yes, I agree with what you said! We should not be imagining things which we don't have yet. Or at least we should do everything to get what we want in the present instead of laying on the bed and bitching around that we don't have that ferrari or whatever else.

The river is in Lithuania, right next to my home. I can see it from my window so I literally grew up swimming in there. That's a real beautiful place.
