Beautyberry Commonly known as the American beautyberry (callicarpa)
The callicarpa is derived from the Greek word, callos meaning beauty and carpos meaning fruit. This tiny beaded clustered fruit is quit a stunner.
The plant grows up to 6’ tall with green leave and clusters of berries all over. There plant needs minimum or little maintenance. Most of the fruit blooms on new branches. An annual pruning will be sufficient to keep the plant happy.
The berries are consumed by birds and other omnivorous animal. Humans enjoy them too. Mostly used in deserts and a lovely sweet jam.
