How to Have a Sense of Entitude and Eliminate Entitleveless Behavior

in #life3 years ago

We all have a sense of entitlement. It's part of human nature. If we don't get what we want we expect to be able to get it, or someone else will, and we feel entitled to it. " entitlement" is the you owe it attitude. Entitlement is a highly toxic personality trait.

The dictionary definition of entitlement is: "a feeling of being undeserved or entitled." The next question then becomes, who does this apply to? Who are we to feel entitled to? Well, the definition applies to EVERYONE! Entitlelement means having a sense of either deserved or undeserved privilege.

There is an easy way out of this mindset. It is called "emotional intelligence," which is one of the most powerful concepts in the world today. Emotionally intelligent people treat everyone else the same. They have a realistic "feel" for what is realistic for them, and they take the actions that reflect their view of reality based on that "feeling." An emotional intelligence mindset is the cornerstone of any smart human being, and is often the first step to happiness.

When a person feels entitled, they will put other people down in order to feel better about themselves. People who feel entitled, also tend to place themselves before God and fellow humans. Entitled individuals are also extremely selfish. They believe that they are entitled to more than others, and that they can be "just as good as those they call 'our' kids."

Entitled people have a very distorted view of their own personal worth and value. Because they place themselves so highly on the scale of who is worthy of trust and love, they have no respect for anyone else. A person with an entitlement mentality cannot see that everyone else is just as worthy of love, attention, and resources - and because of that, they cannot see that they are actually harming everyone else by insisting that they are entitled. A healthy dose of entitlement will not only sabotage you in your personal relationships, it will also undermine your performance at work.

Entitleveless people with a sense of entitlement cannot stand anyone else getting ahead of them, or having a successful life, and therefore they feel like they need help. They may ask for help from people who they see as having less success. The problem with this line of thinking is that it perpetuates the cycle of blame. You may say something like, "You must feel entitled to have a big house, a new car, and a lot more money than me." And then they say, "But I don't have as much money as you."

This can lead to all kinds of problems in the long run. People with a sense of entitlement are often envious and think that they deserve everything. Because they feel entitled, they will feel less entitled. If you are around them long enough, you will realize that they are often acting out of resentment. You can tell when a person has a sense of entitlement because they will constantly be trying to convince you that they deserve it.

So if you want to get rid of your entitlement mentality, you need to reframe your way of thinking. It is not about you, it is about how you relate to others and yourself. Start viewing your lifestyle and your accomplishments through a positive, realistic perspective. If you do that, you will realize that your life and your accomplishments are truly amazing and that there is nothing else you can give to the world other than that. Everyone deserves a good life.
