The game took off right where we left it three weeks ago, both teams scrambling for a much-needed victory and no matter who won or lost, there was going to be some sore bodies afterward. Try for try, break-away run for break-away run, it had an almost eerie familiarity to it, as if we watching their last battle, both teams trying to creep ahead on points. But after 33 mins the score was tied at ten apiece. Australia nudged ahead with a three-pointer and of course South Africa was given the chance to repay the favour like so many times before. However, they were unsuccessful turning that opportunity into points. The penalty, which many regarded as a red card offense, was due to an outlandish hair pulling tackle by Folau.

Half Time Score

SA 10-13 AU

As soon as the whistle blows SA come out firing on all cylinders and score a beautiful solid try which is easily converted but the Wallabies weren't taking that lying down and with only five minutes on the clock of the second half, secure their own converted try. South Africa once again on the back foot take the challenge right back to Australia and put seven more points on the board in less than five minutes. As this see-saw match continues Australia plow through the Bok defense and score an impressive try topped off with an even more impressive kick by Foley, to inch forward 24-27 at the 58th minute. Ten minutes remain, South Africa are awarded a penalty and tie the score. As the final seconds draw closer, SA grab yet another opportunity, now to score a game-winning penalty goal... Unfortunately for the Boks, it was unsuccessful, leaving us in the same position as three weeks ago, with a disappointing tie.

Full Time Score

27-27

While not the trophy they were hoping for, Australia take the Nelson Mandela Challenge Plate for the third successful year

I stayed up to watch this game and wasn't disappointed. It was a really good game to watch. Good running, good tackling, and neither team willing to give an inch. I think South Africa were the better team, a huge turnaround from the 57-0 humiliation last game, but just couldn't get the win in the end.

Agreed, I just couldn't believe how evenly matched it was..... again.
