Unit Ranking - Best to Worst

in CEO Champion's Gate4 years ago (edited)

In this post, I rank some of the more interesting units from most fun to least fun to play against. Stuff on the top should be buffed :P In general, I guess for me a unit is more 'fun' when using that unit means more possibilities or possibilities that are different than usual. A unit is 'unfun' if it really limits what you can do against it. Plus personal bias.

Stuff on the top should be buffed :P In general, I guess for me a unit is more 'fun' when using that unit means more possibilities or possibilities that are different than usual. Firemage - Meteor is so flashy I love it. It gives a totally new strategy for the game when a fireball rains down, it forces the game to progress and the enemy army to move, and it can be used against the caster so easily.
Comet - Just thinking about it's potential lowers your ability to be aggressive, sure. But half the time I forget it's there. And then when it does activate - 3 turns of chaos.
Siren - I've never played this, but it seems like it will make for a really aggressive round.
Dove - When I see a 8 dove army I know I'm in for an awesome and chaotic round.
Frog/Toad - It's HOPPING TIME! HELL YEAH! Boing Boing Boing!!! Plus, you need to think in a different way to deal with hops - you can't just add pressure to a square, frog changes the game totally. Also, with chaining hops next update, there will be nothing cooler than the time that frog/toad eats like 10 units in 1 turn
Hostage - It's just like a more fun version of wisp, watch it run around :D Buff plz~
Shieldsman - The ability to guard champions is just so cool, it throws everything off.
Aquarius - Never really played with it but it's kinda like comet so I like it
Lich - Generally I think that moral drain/gain units are lame, but lich takes the game a step further with a REALLY high cost and strong ability. Fighting a giant skele army is cool, and the low morale means the game ends before endgame which is also cool.
Wisp - It's the blocking overlord, it gets in your face and makes you attack from a new angle.
Minotaur - If it's power succeeds, the next few turns are going to be action-packed.
Phalanx - The walk of death. Not being able to swap or move 2 squares makes it way cooler than haunted armor. I wish it worked with shields man though.
Lust - Shatters defense, makes you think in a different way, easy for the other side to take advantage of. All good things.
Samurai - Straightforward and very threatening. There are lots of ways to counter it, which makes it worthwhile
Windmage - Seems like it would be fun in theory, but really it's just used for some lame combo. This is wind magic in general.
Lilith - Charm is pretty cool, the fact that it only can hit minions is pretty cool, but it still tends to lead to less crazy rounds
Alchemist - Poison magic is good, healing magic is just mind blowing to see. Though it totally destroys your combo sometimes :P
Gnome - It gives a pretty interesting strategy to fight against, and evolves into petrify magic which is fun.
Princess - Runs around at the end game and destroys everything, you need to be wary of it in a different way than normal.
Portal - It makes development fast, so the game gets fun fast. The best portal-type unit from this perspective.
Haunted armor** - Simple and scary. Kinda sad when it checkmates you.
Pikeman - it's kinda like an expensive fireball. Not that bad.
Fire elemental - Like ranger, it walks around for several turns without anything happening. It's a bit more fun than ranger though because it threatens more effectively so the walking around is less pointless. And it's more worth it to take so you can be aggressive.
Vampire - Ok it's a weak queen with morale draining. I don't really care about moral draining, not that interesting.
Necromancer - Totally crushes your ability to be aggressive with minions.
Bomber - Very solid, unstoppable unit. It just walks forward and is hard to stop. Not that great.
Enchantress - Just used in lame combos
Voidmage - God you need to be nerfed. Stop ruining my attacks, I can't push anything forwards or defend it or do anything
Phoenix - I just killed you, why are you back again >:( Why can't I kill you without dying >:(
Fireball - I don't wanna deal with your 8 fireball restricted movement army while your ranger moves around and you spend 30 turns swapping before anything interesting happens

Sort:

Just a thought, what if phoenix had some of its egg loss penalty transferred to a small on death penalty so that taking a phoenix+++ with a base pawn is not considered advantageous for the phoenix user? (So many pieces can bring the egg to safety that it's pretty much guaranteed to come back anyways)

I like this! Although perhaps this would be a good time to mention some help in the post formats since we are missing the handy little formatting buttons.

Here is something useful for the formatting style here:
Markdown-Cheatsheet (can be used as reference)

a simple '---' can create divider as above,
or, a "< br >" without spaces can force a line break.

a '#' can make a HEADER

  • "-" can make bullet points
  • usually for a list of some kind ;)

asterisks '*' can surround things to create (1) italics or (2) bold

and ascii symbols work: ✣✤✥✦✧✩✫✬✭❉❊❋

and the preview below the post will show any problems here.

all of this is not expected, but maybe useful ^_~

Sure, I'll try to put more effort into my posts. Write-once, read-many.
